Maradona tour

Stabiae sites, Villa Arianna  & Villa San Marco

Stabiae was buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. and the site was declared an archaeologically protected area in 1957. By 1962, many of the ruins had been unearthed.

In recent times, excavations have brought to light two famous Roman villas, Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna, with frescoes, statues, sculptures and mosaics similar to those already found in Pompeii and Herculaneum. Among the numerous villas in the residential archaeological area of ​​Stabiae, only Villa San Marco and Villa Arianna can be visited. The distance between them is about 1 kilometer.

The tour will start from Villa San Marco, perfectly preserved, where you will still find the atrium, the kitchens, the peristyle with a long natatio, various frescoed rooms and the spa district where the extraordinary caldarium with the structures used for the heating. Next, move to Villa Arianna, featuring a large peristyle, several decorated viewing rooms, and an interesting spa area.

Oplontis ruins
